Indoor Soccer Returns to Kansas City

11/06/07 - PASL Designated as an Official Affiliate League of the MISL

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – The return of Indoor soccer to Kansas City with the Kansas City Soccer Kings (KC Kings). The KC Kings is the newest member of the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL), the largest International indoor soccer league (amateur) in the world which recently announced that they have formalized a multi-year affiliation agreement, according to MISL Commissioner Steve Ryan and PASL Commissioner Kevin Milliken. Through this formalized agreement, the MISL will utilize the PASL as its affiliate for developing MISL players. The PASL currently has 48 teams in the USA (41), Mexico (6) and Canada (1).

The KC Kings and all PASL teams play in eight to ten regional competitions. The champion of each region will then compete in PASL 2008 Winter League International Championships on 3/14/2008-3/15/2008 in Fredericksburg , VA .

Home matches will be played on Saturday Nights at the Kansas City Soccer Dome beginning in December 2007, with tickets prices ranging from $3.00-$5.00. Two opponents of the KC Kings in the Midwest Region will be the Springfield, IL Spirits and Swanner United Futbol Club of St. Louis.

Former MISL All Star and Comets defender Vlatko Andonovski will serve as Head Coach. “I’m looking forward to getting back on the field in a different role as a player and a head coach for the fans of Kansas City,” said Andonovski. “Hopefully we can provide a fun, high-level of indoor soccer.” Local Youth Club Director Tonio Paternostro will serve as Executive Director of the Kings organization and Assistant Head Coach.

The Kansas City Comets of the MISL to the Kansas City Attack of the NPSL have a long storied tradition in Kansas City. The KC Kings are looking to fill the void left from no professional indoor soccer team. The Soccer Dome has been the Home to indoor soccer in Kansas City for over 25 years, whether it was the Official Training Facility of the Comets or the Attack in the past 23 years or all the youth and adults who grew up playing at the Dome. We hope to again provide something special to the Indoor Soccer Community of Kansas City,” said Team General Manager Brian Budzinski.
